Car Sound

hey after drivin my sis corsa for a while then going bak to my yaris i can tell u that the yaris is definate better!

But i noticed the car sound, the corsa sounds sporty but the yaris sounds like a diesel! espically when its reved i have nothin done to the car or anything but if i get a induction kit you think it will get rid of the annoyin diesel sound?

well both me and my parent have a t-sport. mine is heavily modded and my parents isnt. but my mum and dads is really quiet and so was mine before i did stuff to it. so cant understand why it sounds like a diesel

Mine sounded nothing like a diesel... it was nice and quite... an induction kit, manifold and subtle backbox made it pretty frickin' loud and very sporty! Lovely!

what u want is a nice manifold and sports cat along with exhaust, then it will sound nothing like a disel

but yea induction kit will add a nice burble to hard acceleration, i have the apexi on mine

Lol maybe its just me then it doesnt sound as harsh as a diesel but more like a van :) but i still dont like it. so anyone got good reccomends i was thinkin of 3 main ones

1- apexi but i heard no power gains just sound

2- hks but its not good for your car apparntly

3- pipercross just because not many people have it!

You won't get any power gains (well, noticeable - 1 to 2bhp at most IMO), from just an induction kit.

The pipercross is an oiled kit, so you need to oil it on a regular basis, and could end up having to clean the MAF sensor alot, as the oil can drip onto it, causing the engine warning light to light up on your dash.

I ran a pipercross though for about 3 months and didn't have a problem, apart from some rubbing on the soundproofing on the underisde of the bonnet.

As you may have seen in the other post, some people have had problems with Apexi kits rubbing, but it's supposed to be easily sorted.

Does a Yaris really sound that bad? I just wondered because i usually like the sound of engine noise especially with induction kits and wondered if anyone had a before and after clip of just with the induction kit? :P

TBH i dislike the sound of the CTR! The guy two doors down from me has one and he has just fitted a new (rather tasty looking) after market exhaust and also has a K&N typhoon (or one of the other closed filters ones as cant remember exactly) and tbh it sounds rubbish! The induction sound is nice but sounds so stupid when it changes from a low sound to a high really noticeable sound when it changes Cams. Sounds poor imo! I love the styling of the CTR (spoiler is so sexy) but i dont particularly like the car overall! Is it 210bhp NA(Correct me if wrong) tho so you cant complain!

P.S. Does the SR exhaust (as smally performance orientated as it may be) make a difference in sound at all to the exhaust note?

Its only got 197bhp I think mate but its rapid!

The SR exhaust makes a teeny noise difference which isn't really worth it unless you get it mega cheap imo!

Cheers but i thinkin of buying the SR i mean not it as an aftermarket part so just wondered if it slightly nicer! O common 13bhp out with the bhp guess werent bad :P It aint THAT rapid :P The long revving is fun i guess but prefer the long reving you get from a ferrari or an RX-8 over that of the Civic :P

And yeah, the TTE exhaust it slightly nicer sounding than standard but nothing incredible!

Anyway, we better get back on topic 'cos earpl will just moan! :P

Thunder Sport, get an A'PEXi and it will sound nothing like a tractor! :D

as far as im aware, the origional CTR had 197bhp, when they updated it in 2003, they gave it 202bhp

I know what you mean about the noise. I've posted a thread about this some time ago. Its a rat-a-tat-tat noise yeah? I asked about it at toyota and they said it was caused by the valve timing or something. Perfectly normal.

I noticed it with my first car, the 1.0l gls. I was hoping the Tsport was more reefined and didn't have it but it did. Its a bit better though now that its done over 3000 miles.

Its just one of those thing with a vvti engine.

i read somewhere that the hks induction was bad for your car because it doesnt absorb enough air or something? im sure i read it in a mitsubishi forum

Yea thats the sound im talkin about the rat-a-tat-tat sound its so doesnt sound sporty, like u said its the vvti cause my uncles celica sounds the same as mine just a little more refined.

not changed the oild since i got the car but i check and its always enough in it!

and btw when u rev the celica engine it actually starts to hurt the ears!

btw i dont no how to paste the quotes thats why i i didnt put them up lol

CTR? civic type r? the mk1 type r civic, bubblebutt. or for those of good knowledge the EK9. now thats a fast civic, the new EP3 just doesnt compare.

In my opinion, its the hottest hot hatch the world has ever seen.
