Fm Transmitter

Hi....

I asked a question about aux audio in Yaris.. 'Dave' replied and said there is no aux in on Yaris...He suggested the only solution was an FM transmitter for MP3's.

Can anyone recommend an FM transmitter. I understand there are some on the market of dubious quality.

Regards

at first i had a BELKIN TUNECAST II fm transmitter, then went for a wired adaptor i found on eBay and won for 3p!!!!!! wired is much more stable quality. but for portability between cars the belkin transmitter was good.

Connects2 device is your best bet... about £50 and you can then plug in anything to it's phono input. I use one and the quality is great. Can't remember where I got it now... it was off the internet though.

Cd quality it is indeed. So long as your input source, say MP3 player is running at least 192kbps file rate and has a good cable to the box.

Hiya matey, I've got an ipod mini and an griffin itrip. Tuned it into 90.3 and the sound is toptastic!

Treated my self to a belkin tunebase to hold it in place and keep it charged while I'm driving.

Really chuffed, won't go to the trouble of putting a cd in.

Hope this helps

Hi Minidoughty

Thanks for the info...which wire adaptor are you refering to.

Was it a problem to fit?

I am undecided whether to go for transmitter ot other method.

Transmitter idea is appealing cos I am a dunce mechanic.

Cheers

it was from eBay but i saw it on add-a-cdchanger.com or something like that! the model number is something like VX001? You can fit it without removing the stereo, if you lay down and look up under the dash from the passenger footwell. Behind the cd player/tape deck on the nearest side to the passenger footwell is a white socket for the adapter to be put in.

Hi Minidoughty

Thanks for the useful info...If I can fit into a socket without disturbing anything else I will be very relieved.

I think I have tracked down the product you refer to ...it is a 'connects 2' product part number VTYX001.

I had assumed that I would have to take the whole Yaris to pieces to fit this unit...If it connects as you say it does, I'll stop having nightmares!!

Cheers Again!

Hi seveer unaek

Thanks for your input. I have been trying to decide over last few days and think that 'connects 2' is best idea. I do not follow '192kbps file rate' ...too dim.

I presume the better mp3 players would have this file rate. (I haven't bought mp3 player yet) ...waiting to set up system first.

Cheers

Hi minidoughty

Further to my previous mail...is this unit only connected to the white socket on the radio/cassette that you mentioned.. I am not clear how this unit gets it power?

I am assumimg that we are talking of the same unit ie the connects 2 vtyx001.

I have been on to 'connects 2' web page but there do not seem to be any clear vehicle fitment instructions for the vtyx001 unit.

Cheers again
