I have an 86 Toyota GT. The engine turns, but it won't fire. It has recently had a tune up, and a new alternator. The car was running fine. Then I went and washed the motor. I drove it, no problems. Then I got home and the car wouldn't start. I checked the distributor cap. I didn't see any water or moisture. I went and got a distributor cap, rotor and new plug cables. It still won't start. Someone suggested it might be the module, but before i spend that much money on a part I cannot return, I'd like some suggestions.

will it not start now after a few days?

Take the coil lead out that goes to the dizzy cap, put it about 3 to 5mm away form somthing metal i.e strut top hat bolts, and get someone to crank the engine round. If thiers no spark, then its not the plug leads. Can u get a multimetre onto that module... i dont know much about the newer celicas, sorry. If ur in the UK then you can always get a second hand one from toyota celica breakers, or check out the scrap dealers etc.

There is a remote possibility that the spark plug "O" rings between the rocker cover and the cylinder head have worn, this allows oil seapage into the plug reccesses. When left for some time the vacuum pulls the oil down onto the plugs preventing ignition.
