I have found that on a wheel column there is window in front of ignition key lock.

Is it worth to check if the lamp is dead? Is there really such an option on 1992 Carina E?

I have checked the lamp with multimeter and looks like its dead.

After that I have connected multimeter to the wires connected to the lamp and tried to measure voltage when it should work(opening the doors switchin on lights etc). But looks like there is no voltage at any time.

Does somebody know when this light should work.

Sergey.

i can only imagine its working on the same principal as the door light does so i would say it comes on at the same time as that does, as you open the door.

You should have a +12 volt feed to one side of the bulb holder and the earth is linked to the door pin switch - they normally have a timed relay in the circuit so the light will stay on for approx.20 secs after the door has been shut.

Toyota often put the wiring in place for all model's in the range and then put the components in for the model spec.
