Transponder Key

Some guy is selling a uncut unprogrammed transponder key

on eBay.......I only have 1 key for my Gen 6, could I buy it and get it programmed....if so, is it only a Toyota Dealer who can do it?

I didn't think they had a transponder in to be honest - might be wrong though

Yea, they do have a transponder according to my GT manual. I have four keys for mine. Two light grey and two black. The light grey ones will unlock the car but have no transponder. The black one has a transponder, and only with that can you start the engine.

I couldn't guess how much it costs to get a key programmed, but given the monopoly toyota would have on such a job, I bet it would be alot.

Easiest way is to ring toyota and ask

I thought the grey ones were something to do with not being able to get in the boot?? For when you give the key to someone to park your car up???
