Hi,

I'm getting a strange noise when I pull off in my car. This happens in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, it not easy to pull off in 4th!!! I also get this noise when I reverse.

I never get this noise on a gear change, only when I pull off from stationary.

The car has only done 33k mile, and its been regularly serviced.

If I describe the noise is a high pitch sreetch about 1/2 second.

Any Idea's???

Also the lock on a rear door doesnt loch with the central locking, any advice?

Thanks for reading.

Cheers,

Kiran

Might be the ABS priming when it first registers movement - I've heard this reason given to other peoples posted worries about similar noise when first pulling away. If you haven't got ABS (think 97 Carina has) or if the noise has just started recently then this obviously isn't the reason.

The locking latch not moving over is a common problem - try moving the switch over to lock the door manually before you get out of the car then lock as normal - sometimes this sorts the problem out (don't know why).

Whilst on the subject of Carina common problems - if it hasn't happened yet the drivers electric window switch will stop working and the boot / hatch will move out of line (the gaps between the boot and rear wings will be uneven).

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunatly, my Carina is a very basic model no ABS and I'm baffled by the noise.

I've tried the back door manually many time, I'm thinking of taken the door trim of to take a look. Any experiance's will help.

I haven't even got electric windows so I guess I wont need to worry about the switch ;)

Cheers anyway.
