2x Mechanics Say It's A Cracked Head Gasket...

I was here a little while ago with engine temp problems, the flashing red engine light would keep coming up and I'd gradually be losing radiator fluid. Have had the radiator flushed. Two mechanics have said it can only be the cracked head gasket at a price of €1,500 to repair (I'm in Milan).

There's no doubt that it slowly loses fluid, and i've been unable to find any readiator leak other than, strangly, some fluid on the outside around the overflow cap after long drives. I've checked the engine oil cap and don't see antyhing unusual.

Can anyone offer advice about this? Obviously it's a major repair which will tap my wallet for all it's worth, and if that doesn't fix it I'm totally screwed.

Any help is appreciated.

Is it out of warranty mate? How long has it been losing radiator fluid for? If it was losing fluid when it was in for a service at Toyota (and they missed it), I'd be after them to sort it AND pay for it!

Unfortunately it was two months out of warranty when the problem developed. Typical.

Can anyone venture an educated guess as to how much is a reasonable price? That €1500 is from the dealer down the street from me...
