Date Of Manufacture?

i've recently bought a jap import Vitz (equivalent to the echo). can anyone tell me how i can find out the date of manufacture of the car. I know from the chassis-number that it was manufactured between january 1999 and n ovember 2001...which is quite a gap.

is there any way in which i can dtermine it's y.o.m. or more specifically the actual date of manufacture?

oh...and can anyone tell me what OBD-II (if any) cars manufactured between 1999-2001 use?...would the JDM version's ECU be different than the US or european version?

try looking on a seat belt . these have a tag on them which sometimes has the exact date they were made on

thanks...i checked and it says march 1999....i assume this date will be somewhat earlier than the actual date of manufacture right?

you wouldn't know if it uses the ISO standard right? or if it even is OBD-II compliant.

i believe it was only mandatory on models after 2000
