Yeh but as much as i'd like a C-one bonnet, this will be saving me about 300 quid, money of which I can put towards other things for my car. Besides, i'm not exactly gonna gain much on a 1.0l am i? It's more for looks

well it was up on eBay.com.au last week (or the week before) and he ended the auction early. Maybe this is the same one, i'm not too sure, but probably best to send him an email

of course its real, it's wet carbon, not dry, still looks great + weighs less than the standard one. same as rays, and if that little bundle of love can carry it through customs, it cant be that heavy :)

the way the carbon is laid, wet is stronger but heavier. + you'd be better off getting the bonnet made from fibre glass the same thickness as the varis bonnet if you wanted to go for weight reduction ;)

'bundle of love' - I thought that you had changed your affections ... I thought you and Canavan were an item ,,,?

Sorry - back on topic - Rays looks just as nice as mine, but it is a lot heavier. Comes down to what you're prepared to pay at the end of the day...

Its not a specialist job - but neither is it a one man job.

The hardest part is getting the old one off as its heavy - two people with two socket sets can have it off in about 10mins. Then its a case of sorting out the rubber bumpers and washer jet etc to the new bonnet before lighning it up.

It took me ages to get the bonnet catch lubricated enough to accept the lighter bonnet as you cant just drop it into place.

In the longer term I had a few interesting sessions whereby the bonnet sprung onto the safety catch - and once whereby it came up completely - not for the faint hearted I can tell you. With this in mind proper bonnet catches are a good idea.
