Ok , quick question here . please dont laugh at my lack of knowledge but will the fact my exhaust has a hole in it affect my fuel consumption ?Because since the hole has appeared the car seems to use more of the !Removed! stuff.......or is it just me?

thanks.

Hi.

Yes, in theory a hole in the exhaust can affect fuel consumption, but in practice it doesn't usually make a big difference. I imagine you need to get the hole fixed or else get the exhaust replaced so you might as well do that then see whether the fuel consumption returns to normal.

Most engines have a rev limiter since without one it would be possible to over rev the engine. If you change up before you hit the end of the red zone then it shouldn't be a problem.

You don't really want to find the point where it happens. It's not great for the engine to bounce off the limiter, and it will slow you down. Just change up before it kicks in. If you can hit the limiter in top gear then please tell us what you've done to get that extra BHP.

Depends where the hole is...

If it's a hole drilled into the exits it shouldn't effect your consumption...

If it's more seruious it can, mt resonator box broke with a big hole around the top of it, fuel consumption was an absolute mare until I got it fixed !!
