Headlights

Hi

Does anyone know of decent headlight converters (Yaris) for Continental travel?

The toyota dealers only have a black 'lens stick on'. (which are unsatisfactory)

I was wondering whether there were amber bulbs for the Yaris with a changed filiament direction.

Many thanks

Dunno - when Kimi went to TTE for the supercharger she used the black stick-ons. What's your issue with them?

Also, why do you want amber bulbs? They haven't been used in France for years and years. In fact, I believe that unless they are the original bulbs fitted to your car (or something like that) you will fail your French MOT. I can assure you our French registered Yaris doesn't have them.

Anyhow, are you sure its not the reflective surface behind the bulb that diverts the beam these days?

Let me know how you get on as I need the beam deflectors or similar before the 'Ring Trip in April.

Cheers,

A

What do they look like? I'm not that keen to block off light tbh.

I wouldn't normally bother but Ken's list of "stuff you need" does specifically say that we should have them...

Hi alanbradley

I'm obviously out of date with the colour, although I was not considering only France.

I dunno if any other countries need amber ..but I shall research that.

The 'black stick ons' are naff. The one supplied by Toyota (at least when I bought them) did not really have a correct 'cut out' for Yaris.

When I get further info on lens/bulb change I shall give you a bell.

Hi again alanbradley

Here is some gen from www.travel-spot.co.uk

Warning

Black Masking Tape

Advances in headlamp technology over the past few years, and the advent of Projector, Ellipsoidal and Clear Lens headlamps, has resulted in making the adaption of headlamps to eliminate dazzle a complex matter.

The use therefore of Black Masking Tape is a dangerous 'hit and miss' affair, and in any event it is unlikely that the vehicle would be deemed to be road worthy.

Black masking tape absorbs some of the headlamp light beam, and converts it into heat energy, which will not only cause a dangerous reduction in night vision but also generate a 'hot spot' on the lens. This in turn can cause cracking in glass lenses or a browning burnt effect on a plastic lens.

Cheers
