Hi

My mate has a gen 7 on the back it says VVT-i

He says its a 190 but I thought the 190 was a VVTL-i?

Is there any other way of telling what it is without lifting the bonnet?

The car does have the spoiler and bit of a kit

Cheers

Usually the 190's have either 'T-Sport', or '190' on the back of them.

Also think the 190 has a higher redline than the 140, but don't know. I'm sure one of the Gen 7 owners will come along with better answers.

I do not own a 7th gen but your mate is having you on I think! Higher red line on the rev counter and it has VVTL-i on the back (you are right) Think the rev range goes right up to 8000-8400 on the 190. Whereas the 140 only goes up to about 7000-7500, I am sure someone will be along to correct me if I am wrong.

All good answers...

The 190 says "VVTL-i 190" (the 190 in red), or it has the "TT" T-Sport logo on the back of it, the 140 says "VVT-i"

The Rev's on the 140 go to 8000 (although the engine cuts at 7200ish). The Revs on the 190 go to 10000 I think, with an obvious lower cut off point.

And if you do get to lift the hood, the engine cover also says VVTL-i for the 190, and VVT-i for the 140.

And should he ever take you for a spin, get him to go above 6000rmp. If its a bit of a feeble kick its the 140, if its proper neck snapping acceleration, its a 190.

That should sort out any arguments! :)

Agree with all of the above....

The redline on mine is 9k. Rev limit is around 8,200rpm.

As above, take it above 6,000rpm and if you get thrown back in your seat and the engine wails like a banshee........you're in the 190/T-Sport :D
