Do you all know that the engine utilized by Aygo ( 998 cc, 3 cylinders VVT-i ) is a design by Japanese Dahiatsu, controlled by Toyota: As a matter of fact the Dahiatsu Company has this engine on its Sirion model, commercialised in Italy and perhaps in all Europe. The only difference is that Toyota manufactures the Aygo car in Ceca republic, while Sirion Dahiatsu is manufactured entirely in Japan.

I personally trust more something manufactured in Japan, famous for its Quality Control.

So, the engine that all of you like so much is a Dahiatsu technology, not a Toyota one.

Dahiatsu Company is a very old Japanese Car Company that only lately started to commercialize its cars outside Japan.

Mmmm.

I'm not too sure about the quality of the Aygo, with it being built in East Europe & alongside Peugeot,/Citroen.

I was hoping PSA would pull their quality up in-line with Toyota. I'm afraid it may be the opposite though!

I don't own one, so would appreciate an owners viewpoint......

Quality is difficult to call on the Aygo as it's a budget car. The trim by the A pillar for example is very cheap looking and if you tap it with your finger it rattles in and out. Is that poor quality or cheap materials to make a budget car ?

Theres only 1 strut on the boot lift and interior light doesn't trigger on passenger door open, the parcel shelf moves on a cardboard tube, the door pull handles are cheap platic and flex slightly - i doubt they will last more than a year or so.

BUT . . overall I luv me little Aygo . . just need to remember what it is !

SMW, I know what your are saying about being a budget car etc.

However, I still expect the car to be A1 quality. I'm afraid the joint venture with PSA will be the Aygo's downfall!!

PSA are synonimous with cheap materials & poor reliability. The Aygo will inherit this reputation........eventually!

I hope I'm wrong on this but fear I'm not........

Best of luck with your cars. I think I would stick with a second-hand Yaris though.

Actually, that's not right - Daihatsu were the first Japanese car company to import cars into the UK.
