T-sport Mpg

Hello,

I am currently using BP Ultimate in my Yaris T-Sport (Phase 2). I am getting around 41MPG on average. I have also noticed a slight increase in performance. This fuel is supposed to be cleaner, more efficient, better for your engine and offer improved performance.

What MPG are you other T-Sport owners getting. I am paying 99.9p/ltr.

Esso Supreme, about 97RON I think, thats giving me on average 28 point something MPG but I havent reset if for a while and its mostly town driving and short journeys.

I'm getting 41MPG at the moment. That's a mix of town and open road. I rarely go faster than 65. BP Ultimate has def made an improvement though. I think it's worth the extra money it costs. Apparently it cleans your engine aswell.

Optimax.... about 30mpg

Normal... about 30mpg

Thats with normal everyday driving, getting around 300 miles to a tank

This is with an enthusisatic week (or few days! - like this past week testing a new little mod which il post up about in a bit)

Optimax... no idea... can't be ubikd with it anymore because my local Shell ran out twice, then they stopped serving overnight for 2 weeks, so normal fuel does me fine.

Normal... about 20-22mpg (having too much fun to care!)

Oh, im now skint, can anybody lend me any money?!?!

I get about 40mpg with normal driving. However its almost impossible to drive 'normally' with a T-sport as I'm sure all owners are aware. Usually I get about 32-35mpg.

ill second tht i get same, surely though if you get slighly more mpg if just a trade off of actually buying the petrol which is more expensive per gallon than say normal 95ron petrol???

I am not kidding you mate. 41MPG. Try reseting your Avg readout. After a while it never changes so your current readout may not be that accurate.

The readout thing in your car is pretty damn innacurate... it doesn't take into account any external forces whih can have an effect on MPG.

Best way to do it is to fill to the brim, then when you wanna fill up again, note down how many litres you've put in and work it out from there. That's the most accurate way to check your MPG.

Oh, the Yaris tank is 45 litres, or 9.9 gallons. So if you travel 300miles on a completley full tank to a completley empty tank you have achieved just less than 30mpg.

i cant see how optimax, or BP ulimate would make a difference on yaris, all you do is delay the ignition of the petrol, i buy normal petrol and sometimes i get some petrol that feels like responsive, and then otherdays it seems to feel lazy..

I tried optimax a few times now and didnt really think there was any difference.

I've been using BP Ultimate for a little while now and i've noticed a difference in every area. Economy(41MPG) and performance(beat a Evo in a drag race yesterday, just joking).

I've heard bad things from magazines about the quality of supermarket fuels. This Tesco stuff your referring to is 98 Ron compared to 97 Ron for the other comparable fuels. Not just that but compare the amount of BP stations to the amount of Tesco stations. BP is more convenient if a little more expensive.

I dunno i not sure it was out yet. When they speak about supermarket fuels i think its the lower grades. Plus the nearest garage to me is Esso then Tesco and Tesco is less than a mile with another one the otherside of town so its pretty convenient for me :D I think i read it in J Tuner at work. Saying that the other day Esso was a penny cheaper than tesco which seemed a bit of a shock to me but it was during the mini crisis thingy where everyone was goin mental!

J Tuner is an awesome magazine. It's a breath of fresh air to see a mature, serious, anti-chav car modifying magazine out there. I think the editor used to work at Max Poweer or Fast Car actually. Scary Steve I think. Thier cover car is always a work of motoring art. I'm so sick of all the bling you get in other mags. J Tuner just is a much more proffesional magazine. The features are good too. Like 'Our man in Japan'.

Lol someone likes J Tuner! Tbh i used to read Max power and FastCar which kind of got me into the scene but i used to love the jap sections only really! So when my shop stopped selling them i though to look at other mags and found J Tuner :D It all the bits i like but a mag full of them :D Shame you dont get free things tho.....would like there Rx7 with the double rotary engine quad rotor engine :D 550bhp NA tuned that revs until you can be bothered to change gear :D

O yeah and regarding this topic, does petrol really make that much difference? you would think it would be one of THE most critical things as it makes your bang and is your fuel. I suppose its because theres so little difference in the grades now-a-days that you barely notice OR that the cars are designed/get used to a low grade fuel so it doesnt change on just the odd tank of higher RON.

That Mazda on the cover of the latest issue totally blew me away. The Japanese are gods when it comes to car modifying.

Regarding the fuel thing. To be honest I can't tell if it is really worth it. I am getting 41MPG at the moment and I think performance has improved. But i'm one of those guys who gets wrapped up in all the hype. If they say its better, the future of fuel, better for the environment, makes your car cleaner and go like the Millenium Falcon then I can't resist. I just want the best. It must be better. Why would they lie. After all, oil companies are so honest. Nobody cares more about the environment than them. Right?
