Boost Probs

hi i have a rev3 turbo at the mo but on the standard toyota boost gauge isn't doesn't go past the + sign like it should do

the car doesn't smoke at all it pulls hard and holds boost fine all the way to the redline so i don't think its the turbo

my only thoughts on this is that it sounds like it has a dumpvalve but there isn't one visible

it has the same toyota standard valve as my rev2 i wonder if this has broke would it make it sound like a dump valve and not boost to full potential

also can the standard rev2 valve go on the rev 3 engine or are they diffrent also is there a different way of fitting them because it looks slightly different from my rev2 turbo fitting

I wouldn't worry......the OEM gauge no matter what the revision is CRAP, sometimes it shows upwards of the + sign, other times it doesn't. Get a real boost gauge & see what your making....should be fine ;)

I had both a Type II & III oem bov here at one point, I only have the Type III one here now as I sold the other one. FROM MEMORY they are the same, I'll try & find out for sure though. It doesn't take much for the oem one to sound loud.....intake makes it louder. In saying that you MAY have one somewhere on the intercooler pipes!!?? had a good look?? You sure the OEM one isn't venting (not recirc'd)??

Cheers

i have checked the intercooler pipes can't see one

im not sure if the oem has been tampered with as its a bit of a different setup to the rev2 engine if you have any pics that could be helpfull then i can check properly
