Rear Hatch Courtesy Light

Hi

My wife has a 99 1.0 GS Yaris and one thing she misses is a courtesy light when she opens the hatch door (after retail therapy :o ). Do any of the Yari range have courtesy lights on the rear hatch? If so, can anyone tell me where the switch is fitted?

Any info appreciated - Andy

It doesn't have one in the boot.. but if you really need one.. get hold of an LED tube or similar.. and wire it up to the interior light. (just open a door before opening the boot)

Earpl - you took it out! Dunno how much it would have weighed?

You can buy a light unit to add yourself - just hook it into the loom in the overhead light - you can pop the wires along the roof lining. Must admit I havent done it with mine - but have done the same in previous cars, another one in the same approach is to put a cig lighter socket into the boot.

Hi

Thanks to all for your replies.

I had a good look around the door relief and couldn't see any sign of where a OEM switch would be fitted. Your replies have confirmed that a switch was never fitted to any version the P1 Yaris.

I'll have a look at fitting something like a reed switch with a couple of bright LEDS. I'll post back if I come up with anything worth sharing.

Thanks again - Andy

Probably the best thing to do  !

Regarding powering it - I would take it from the interior light as you wouldn't have to have the keys in the ignition for it to come on. Unfortunately the link above doesn't show the wires but I'm sure you will be able to tell which one is the power supply, as I wouldn't really want to run a 12V wire through the car and it's the only power source I can thing of closest to the back and not needing the ignition on!

Let us know how you get on ......... I might have a dabble myself!
