Welcome to TOC matey. First things first. Have you tried checking for error codes? See below.

First thing is to check out any diagnostic codes if you haven't tried already. With ignition off bridge terminals T and E1 in the diagnotic connector (LHS rear of engine bay) using a paper clip or similar. Turn on the ignition and count any flashes of the engine symbol on the dash. If the ECU detects a fault it will flash a fault code (2 lots of flashes for the 2 digit code). There are places on the internet that list the fault code descriptions (or post it back on here for someone to lookup).

Thats possible though unlikely as they don`t come into operation until the revs are up around 4-5K. But i think you ought to be looking at simpler possibilities first. Check all the vacuum lines. Check to make sure they aren`t cracked or age hardened and that they are routed to the correct positions.Especially around the back of the engine, they may have been misrouted. Also check electrical connections to all the sensors. Hopefully it`ll be something easily rectified.

As GT4 BOOSTER points out, if the cars been modded then its possible something may have been connected wrongly. Was it like it when you bought it or has it started doing it after you`ve done something? Some kind of history would be useful.

I bought the car from a friend with engine blown. so i fitted a low mileage engine with 28000 miles but still wouldnt start. so after getting it checked i had to replace the ecu, air flow sensor and then the car fired up but with the reving problem :censor:

after doing the fault test it came up with knock sensor so i replaced that and still no luck. the car is totally stndard. any ideas mate.

I think I suggested that in your other thread that you started on the subject? It might just need setting up, or it could be a wiring fault judging by all the work you have done on it recently. It is quite easy to test the TPS.
