 I bought my mr2 direct from toyota in Sept 2001 - beautiful it was. After 18 months we noticed 'pitting' marks on the alloys. After a bit of persuasion, our service garage got new ones fitted for us by Toyota - great (ish - I didn't expect them to go in the first place). Now it's happened again and we've been told - after a couple of months waiting for a response, that Toyota will not replace them again. They've offered to give us a discount on a new set costing about £750!!!Anyone else had the same problem? Are these wheels prone to this? If so. shouldn't Toyota be changing their supplier and being more sympathetic towards those of us with the naff wheels? What affect will these wheels have on the resale value of my car? Am I the only one?

I've seen this quite a lot on Toyota wheels, it happened on my car too!!! I had mine refurbished and they have been ok up to now and it was much cheaper than buying new wheels.

It's a very common problem with Toyota and Lexus alloys.

I had them changed twice in 3 years on my Celica - waited until just before the warranty ran out to get the second set. The wheels on my 03 Lexus IS200 have gone the same way.

If you do a search you'll find lots more threads on the same subject unfortunately. Toyota will change them almost without question up until the car is 3 year's old, then after that you've no chance.

However, after that time a refurb is the answer as Bobby-H said. Envy will refurb for about £25 a wheel I believe and they're highly regarded by people here. Alternatively if you prefer you can find a local company.
