Insurance For Northern Ireland

Hi all, :)

This is my first post in here, as my Aygo is on order, but I'm not taking delivery until January.

So... I thought I'd pick your brains and expertise on this motor while I'm waiting for it to arrive :)

I've been a biker all my life with machines up to 1200cc, and recently moved to a road-legal quad because my back and knees were beginning to play up (I'm 60, and should have more sense by now, I suppose.... but I'm still very young at heart, so I'm postponing being totally sensible for a while yet!!!).

I went for the quad as a more stable machine for my condition, which still had the 'fun' and 'bike' feel to it.

However.... partly because of the old back and partly because of the extortionate insurance; the quad has had to go :crybaby:

BUT.... when I saw the new Aygo, I realised that 'fun' motoring needn't be a thing of the past :D

So.... here's where I could really do with your help.........

I've had advance insurance quotes (comprehensive, kept on road, full no-claims, 60 yers old etc) from Saga (£310) : 'Toyota Insure' (£496!) : and one from Liverpool Victoria for around £175.

For some reason that doesn't really make sense these days, many insurers won't insure in Northern Ireland, or they add a load to premiums if it's for over here

Can anyone tell me the place that is most likely to give me the best quote for my circumstances (car is basic Aygo 998) in Northern Ireland???

Looking forward to your replies/advice.

Cheers,

Raggy :)

I work for a Motor Insurance Company and we cover people in Northern Ireland, was chatting to one yesterday! There is a broker who we use...can't think of their name tho but I'm pretty sure they have an 02890 area code??

Try an insurance intermediary/broker over there if possible...my company doesn't do quotes direct with the public as we are an "indirect" insurer.

yup it is, we get shafted over here for insurance regardless of the postcode, so for an 18 year old to be paying 1800 fully comp is quite an achievement. u dont know how good you have it on the mainland....... :crybaby:
