Is it my eyes (and I'm only 34.....) or does it appear that headlamps are adjusted really close the the front of the car these days.

Even with the adjuster at zero the lights still only seem to fall 15m away....

what is the ruling?

Mine were the same when I bought my car, the problem was that they were looking down because of vibrations. Go to toyota dealer they have a stand there which will level your lights.

Hope this is what's wrong :)

PS: I am planning to put xenon on my avensis anyone done it ?

In my country they ask for about 700 Euros to install both beams and the corresponding adaptors.

I put a set of 8k HID's on mine (new shape avensis). Bought a kit of eBay for 150 euros and it's just plug in. 2 modules have to be mounted in the engine somewhere away from water, a ballast unit and a starter unit.

Only thing I had to do was drill a 25mm hole in the plastic rear cover and mount the 4 units with strong cable ties. Taking out athe plastic covers and reinstalling was the longest part of the job but I think it's easier on the 98 model.

After the summer months noticed condenstation building up as the 25mm gromet supplied with kit was letting moisture in. I will have to buy a sealant to put around the grommet and plastic cover. Apart from that it makes for great lighting.

Hope this helps.
