Orange Dashboard Warning Indicator

Hi everyone,

New here, and to Celica ownership - I bought myself a Y Reg generation 7 (190) last month and am loving every minute.

I've recently had a warning light come on on the dashboard, orange in colour and shaped like an engine (my interpretation) with two short 'plates' / lines connected parrellel to the sides of the icon.

Now I've looked in my manual, but I must be missing the warning indicator section because I can't find anything about them - can someone help me figure out what's wrong please?

(I've checked the oil level, and it's fine, and I've had a look through this forum for an existing topic without luck)

thanks in advance!!

Mike

It sounds like the MIL (maintenance indicaton light), which represents an abnormal condition with the engine electronics. Take it to a toyota dealer for diagnosis.

I think the gen 7 needs an obd2 diagnostics box to retreive fault codes. Scanned tables of what the codes mean can be found on the celica club forum (with a little searching). There appears to be many, many different codes compared to earlier models. Unless you really know what you're doing it would probably be best to take it to a main dealer - they should do a diagnostic check for free anyway.

Thanks for this - I've now got it booked in for a diagnosis

Hoping it's not expensive!
