2002 Rav 58806 Radio / Cd Problem

Hi,

Can anyone help me out with a Rav 4 radio problem?

When I start it up the lights on the display work, trip operates but that's about it. After a while it will accept a cd but will not play it. After another short while (usually by pressing the eject button for 10 secs) the cd ejects. This is repeated for a random number of times until it plays the cd. Only when it begins to play can I switch to the radio. At this point cd / radio operation (after re-programming the stations) works fine until I switch the vehicle off. Next time I switch it on I go through the same faff.

I tried the dealer who said unlucky it's out of warranty and could not fix it. Something along the lines of £1500 for a new one, unlikely. They suggested a radio repairer might be the way forward but they have also said they'll not be able to fix it.

Has anyone had a similar problem and if so what did they do?

Thanks.

Not a solution to your actual problem, but if it does come down to you having to consider buying a new unit, you can fit an aftermarket unit a long with RAV4 Facia Adaptor , that way it looks neat and integrated, but more importantly you can buy and fit any make front Loading CD Radio.

Thanks prince,

I suppose I'll be looking for a new stereo. Should be cheaper than the dealer anyway!

Cheers mate
