Hi guys, finally got round to getting this done.

I got the de cat system, manifold fitted at envy.

results were as i perceived, good thing is it isnt that loud round town, which is the effect i was wanting, getts louds if you boot it or over 5000ish revs.

*********EDITED BY EARPL*********** adam DO NOT do that again you KNOW better!

the sound is more like a growl, strange with standard backbox but i dont want it too loud, it was more than fine on motorway not too loud i can here the radio at low levels, allthough sometime it sound like it scrappyin the floor or seems it shake guess this is normal, i guess thats the exhuast fumes (havent figured out exaclty when).

I also get this symbol, i know i was going to get a warning light (i guess it the cel light? ) but is this the right one? http://www.kestrelmuppets.plus.com/Yaris/MIL.GIF

So far it seems good

Waiting to get pulley now! cheers.

cheers dude, it didnt come on at first! only after a few miles gues it the ecu checking parameters, i cna porb get rid of it for a little while by reseting ecu.

As i havent reseted ecu yet.

you might wanna be careful with that 100 comment, i got done and edited for putting 60-100 time.

Anyway..... yes resetting you ECU will get rid of it for about 60-100 miles lol and its good also to put optimax in and reset it as it learns to use the extra few RON. and it sounds better aswell, the whole engine, but it wont work with just one tank, fill it up with tenners a few times when you're nearly empty.

My exhaust pops as well when i change gear sometimes >BANG BANG!< lol you will have to hear it chris when i come down. Are you coming to the south midlands meet in Oxford?

nice one admariv, i was happy with mine too. If only i didnt have jasma spec exhaust. But i do love the sound still, i think it will be a bit too extreme and too common if i had a HUGE bass one now.

I like the raspiness... :) :group-cuddles:

Its the manifold - at really low revs it vibrates - you need to get the brackets adjusted to tighten up the clamps

cheers for that mate, will this present a serious problem for the time being, it is just some bolts i need to tighten up could i do it my self, or a garage could do it - dont wanna get ripped off, just i dont have a very good jack.

cheers

Im guessing the de-cat is just the cat chopped out... no custom pipe-work or anything?? If so, then it's because the Manifold doesn't fit the standard pipework 100%. Plus, the standard pipework (as in not the expertly machined Sports-Cat) is solid piping and doesn't have a flex in it... this means that because the manifold now doesn't have a clamp it's vibrating against the heat-shield, the pipe-work and it's moving the whole exhaust system at low-revs due to the gases going from a larger, cleaner diameter to a dirty small diameter and that causes the judder that im sure you'll be getting!

Plus, the rasp will quiet down, it turns more burbly once the manifold has bedded in a bit. You ideally need full stainless exhaust system with a flex before the cat (or not in this case!) this will allow free-flowing exhaust gases, no judder and much less vibrations!

Oh, well done on getting it done at last!! Hope you enjoy!

Yeah mines was a lot better when I got the mid section done - but has since managed to shake itself loose again - to remedy it I 'borrowed' a lift in the local garage and just tightened up all the brackets again - cured straight away.

Is it illegal to remove a catalytic converter from your car? I thought it was an MOT requirement?

Yeah its illegal and yeah its a requirement for the MOT. To pass an MOT, just put the cat back in or on and then take it out after!
