Hello Peeps,

Is it me or has anyone noticed that the Aygo Sport alloys are different from the ones in the brochure? Mine look significantly thicker than the pictured ones. A last minute change perhaps? I reckon the brichure ones look alot better!

On a similar note, I think the Aygo looks really good with the TTE alloys and 'wider' wheels in general. I think the stock ones look too thin, but they do a great job espacially with the turning circle.

I am thinking of changing the alloys at some point in the future but am wondering if larger (15") and wider wheels will affect fuel consumption? I read in an article that bigger wheels can often mean better fuel economy as the car has greater 'grip' and traction on the road - is this true?

Have you got any other pics of Aygo on different wheels ? I have seen the ones in the pinned TTE brochure.

No actually, I've not seen it in other alloys apart from the TTE ones. Though they do look miles better than the stock ones.

I'll be on the look-out, be interesting to see if alloys from the Yaris or Corrola could fit the Aygo...

Bigger wheels in general cause a decrease in fuel consumtion as they are normally wider and more often than not heavier!

Wider wheels need wider tyres, and these have a greater rolling resistance than your standard narrow tyres. So fuel consumption will be affected.

Also, be careful to choose your wheel and tyre combination carefully. If your rolling circumference is increased, acceleration will be slowed. To find the right combination, why not try a tyre calculator guide like this one: http://miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Cheers for the info everyone,

I think I'll wait till later next year if new alloy designs come out if not the Aygo MK II.

With the amount of car use I go through, I wouldn't want the fuel consumption to be affected :D
