Oil Leak,gtr

hi, iv'e got a 92 GTR

i wonder if anybody has any experience of this, i popped out earlier for about 20 mins, and by the time i got back home, the car was full of smelly oil smoke!! i looked underneath, and there seems to be oil dropping onto the downpipe, i couldn't see too much cos it was too hot and smoky, does anybody have any ideas????

Sounds like the rocker gasket could be leaking. When its cool enough to have a poke round without getting burnt have a look round the back of the cyl head area. It`sa bit tight for space but you should be able to at least feel around.

thanx mate, i'm off tommorrow, so weather permitting i'll have a little look around, i've had an idea that it maybe power steering fluid, cos i've had trouble with starting it recently, and i've heard about fluid dripping onto the starter motor on one of these forums, so we shall see!!

anyway ill post it on here once i find out

Dunno where you read that? The starter motor couldn't be further from the PAS system.

It could be oil leaking from almost anywhere. Favourites are the cam cover, as mentioned earlier, and the distributor drive O-ring seal. Although the amount of oil you are talking about suggests something a little more sinister. Is it leaking at the fron or the rear of the engine. At the front it could be a loose oil filter.
