Paint Issue

Hi all, :group-cuddles:

does anyone have this same issue....

I have got a 03 plate Avensis T3X in silver fern - nice colour.

However the more I look at it I find that the bumpers and the door handles are a brighter shade of Silver Fern...

Could this be paint warranty issue??? :(

not sure........although there may be a subtle difference during painting. The bumpers are plastic and therefore require a different preparation to get the paint to adhere properly. Different primer colours ( for example ) can have a noticeable effect with most modern paints.

It's very common and nothing much we can do about it. It's most noticeable on lighter coloured cars and is to do with painting on different surfaces, the only way round it is to use lots of layers of paint which not many manufacturers do anymore largely due to cost.

I have just fininshed reading my warranty and I believe that this is a pain inperfection, which according to Toyota warranty should be covered for three years. Now I bought the car second hand but still have a years toyota warranty.So I might try my luck and see what happens.

Excellent choice of colour btw! I was going to pick silver or black (!Removed! to keep clean) but my wife saw one in Silver Fern and said she liked that so I chose that. I like the way that nobody can agree on the colour, from metallic beige (!) to white (?) then again, the DVLA has it down as "silver" so even they can't agree on the colour! :D

DVLA have put Silver on your V5 Doc...

They must be colour blind then coz on mine they say me car is "GREEN "

Guess DVLA likes silver.

I have an Avensis in Metropolis Metallic (Dark Grey), and this is classed as silver on registration document.......

Had a light green metallic volvo about 15 years ago, and this was classed as silver on registration document.......

Had a light green Avensis until I got current car. guess what?

Anyone got a black Avensis????

Heh! DVLA likes siler or gold but they prefer MasterCard, or in fact any kind of payment in large amounts! :D

A guy down the road has a black Avensis and it looks suhweeet. However, he is out most sunday mornings doing the wax on - wax off bit, but man it looks the business B) but you really have to be a practitioner of "Zen and the art of Car Valeting".
