Hi,

I seem to have clunking noise from under the car somewhere (more like a dull thud) this is only noticable when on uneven surfaces or minor bumbs on badly surfaced roads at any speed.

I have checked the engine mount etc, but can't find the problem, I thought it might have been the suspensions but apparently not since it passes MOT ok this has been annoying me for the last 18 months or so.

Any idea what it could be? Any input will be most appreciated.

Hi Alan,

Might be the Anti-roll bar link bars - quite a common fault on the Carina E.

Pictures show the rear one's but the set up is the same for the front's.

I had a similar clunk speed bumps were fine but uneven roads were shocking and this went on for years nobody could find the problem on my toyota carina e and it passed 2 mots and 3 council taxi tests(strict) only on the last one did the guy point out that there was a little play in the anti roll bar D bushes.£40 fitted and everything is now fine

A common cause is the drop links but they were fine.

they are about £7 each, about an hours work

i got the same car, and my droplinks keep going alot.
