Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has come across the same problem? As the name suggests my car is the new type avensis luna 2003. Yesterday, the whole stereo system had an off day. There was noting to be heard for about 4 hours, then came back on for 10 minutes and then went AWOL again for another hour. Now it seems to work fine.

All functions seem to be working except the volume control both on the steering or on the unit itself. It doesn't seem to have any effect at all. No sound at all either when it's in this state and nothing from the tape or cd either!!!

I just wondered if anyone else had come across something similar before I bring it back to the Toyota dealer 1 week after having had the car back for a change of catalytic converter.

Hi. What I would say from my (limited) experience of audio installs is this:

If the problem "solved" itself when you stopped, pulled away, or in any other way caused the vehicle and therefore the radio to be affected by movement, then it could possibly be a loose connection, frayed wire or some other "mechanical" fault.

If not, then the problem is likely a "software" fault with the radio's internal solid state workings. I don't know the radio system you have but is there a way to "reset" it? If so, it could be worth trying this first. My old $ony MP3 headunit had a CD tracking problem that occured when stationary and got worse and worse and time went on. Once reset, the problem went away but would start to creep back after a couple of months.

Either way, just contacting Toyota to see if there are any "known issues" about the radio prove to be helpful.
