Super Flat Battery

ive heard that if you leave a Battery flat long enough then it literally becomes no good???

numpty here left his connected to a car that hasnt moved for 'a long time' and now needs to get it going again

will the Battery recover if i jump it and get it going, allowing it to charge?

or will it constantly just be FUBAR and require a new item?

You need to use a Battery charger like an "Optimate" which will recover a deep discharged Battery or bite the bullet and buy a new Battery.

Optimate's not really any good as a charger. It's more of a Battery "conditioner."

If you can get the car started, next time it's home, hook up something like an optimate, which will help keep the Battery level up.

its totally FUBAR if you ask me

had to jump it off the MR2 and as soon as i released the jump leads it just cut straight out

fearing a dead alternator :o i dropped a different Battery on that i 'thought' was dead at least trying to get some dash lights on, and it kicked up straight away

moral of the story - dusty old batterys down the back of your workbench never really are flat!
