Tailight Leak

Clueless

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Recently fitted set of lexus taillights to my yaris. All went well at first. Came of night shift last Saturday morning and noticed some condensation in one the lights. Taught nothing of this as there had been a slight frost overnight and i was tired. Proceeded to go home and go to bed. It proceeded to to rain heavely(as so often happens in Ireland). Got up, had a look.....Instant fish tank! Damn seal feel off and whole boot flooded.

Anyone else around here have this problem?

There have been many cases of the lexus tails leaking or fogging...

I think they dried them out and sealed them with silicone...

yep..

same like mine..

quarter of the light was filled with water lol

then mighty kevin gave me the simple solution..

:)

just remove them one sunny day..

use a hair dryer or just let them dry somehow..

then take transparent silicone and go over the seal (between the base and the plastic cover)

and voila..

no more leaks :)

Have tried as you've suggested already yet i still have a small amount on condensation. At least its not leaking anymore.

leave them in the airing cupboard for at least 24 hours and allow them to become bone dry

the slightest amount of moisture in there will make them mist over

Have sealed the lights once already after drying them out in the airing cupboard for 48hrs. Unfortunately, i'll have to wait until next week before i can go at it again.

Cheers for the advice.
