Hi all, Im sure this has been asked before but im going through so many sites and forums my brain is gonna blow! OK i want to install my Sony CD MP3 player into my sexy new Celica, I kinda know how to get the dash off (thanks to this site!) but not sure if I need some sort of mounting kit or just the single din face plate to fit my system in. I ask because some say i can just use the stock mounting cage for the system and so only need the faceplate to cover, but others mention a kit is required, so which one? any usefull links? Please someone help, i just wanna install my new n shiny MP3 player into my car and it seems a nightmare!! :crybaby: Also thanks to all, as this site has helped me alot!

You should just need the double to single facia - the one where the hole for the stereo is in the middle of the facia (Autoleads, for example). You can then use the drilled holes in the back of that with the current stereo mounting brackets in your car.

Be prepared to do a bit of drilling of the mounting brackets as well, to screw the stereo in to them at the sides.

Once all thats done, no theif is getting to it quickly, so you won't be losing your nice shiney new mp3 player!

Its pretty easy to work out, but if you need any more help, just yell....

Need more help!

Firstly - DefiantFrog thanks!!

I know its been a long delay, but ive been planning my wedding for the summer!

Finally got some time to get back to sorting out my Celica.

The above is good advice, but I forgot to mention I was looking for a facia adapter/plate/kit (not sure how to refer to it!) that would allow me to slot in my Mp3player but have space for a second unit in the future (DVD/sat nav) and I cant find one!!

Can any one help?? :(

What mp3 player is it mate? Also are you saying that you want 2 1DIN slots on the facia cos there is nothing like that i have seen.

what you need is the Pocket Kit for Toyotas

Welcome to the club too :)

Thanks for the prompt reply Chyownster !

I looked into the toyota Pocket kits, found ones made by autoleads (FP-11-00 ) It looks like it takes up only one din slot, is this so I can use the other for my system? Im not too sure about all this as I have not had a chance to remove the dash to see how exactly the system fits in! (hopefully on the weekend)

From what I can see the size left after removing the doudble din standard unit is enough to fit two system as I have seen in a celica before, but looks as though I need some sort of bracket to make up for the space around the edges.

Gonna look around some more...

Thanks for all the help. :D

Oh and Chyownster its a Sony CDX-F7700 Mp3 player.

i ll take a pic of mine later with the pocet kit. Not sure if there is something for the double din. You ill prolly have to make some sort of bracket. Not too sure

Have you tried just popping into a Car stereo shop and asking, as they usually have all the kit available, i have a local guy who stocks everything and whenever i need anything he just gets it for me, or can get hold of it pretty easy.

hit the link above its to a american sight, i reckon thats what you need but, would need to change it if you want to then put in a second unit later.

also try this sight, it shows how to change the stereo, and other things on the toyota celica

Thanks Black 1,

the the first link is not suited for Gen 7 but found something similar for it, the second is link is a cool one! I want to get my lights smoked, looks well cool!!

I thank all for the help, I think I have enough of an idea of what I need, and am going to attempt to install next week when I got the right bits.

Thanks again, and long live the Celica!! :D
