just wondered if anyone had any info on any changes between the 02 model and the new 03 model? have any of the problems been sorted

found quite a good offer at Motorpoint in burnley (up north :D ) £9999 for a 53 model when they come out with metalic paint and 2 years 11 months of toyota warranty left!

over 2 grand under toyota price and thats before bartering starts

all you help would be most appreciated

I haven't noticed any new threads pop up about the '03 model so hoping all has been sorted...

The price you mentioned sounds superb and if you can get them lower good man :D

Oh welcome to the club, hope any queries or niggles you may find get popped up so we can try and help/resolve anything that happens, even better if you could post and say you've had ni niggles at all, are absolutely amazingly happy withthe car and all is hunky-dory :D :D :D

I have just exchanged my old model T sport for the new model. Sorry not too good on technical stuff. But I can tell

you it is a wonderful car. I haven't noticed much difference. It has a light in the boot which as a woman I find very helpful when shopping. I must admit it seems more responsive than my last one. It likes cruising at 80

which is not good as I work in a Fixed Penalty Department so I have to keep it under control a bit !!

Just buy it and thoroughly enjoy it.

I think the people at Toyota read this forum...as they have addressed most of the issues with the new 03 spec TS.

Given the Front Seats "Memory" so when you have peeps in the back, you don't have to mess around re-adjusting the seat all over again.

Darkend the dash - so it doesn't reflect in the windows.

Steering wheel mounted ICE controls....and much better steering wheel to boot!

Few asthetic changes such as lights, console...not sure if I like these new changes,

but I love the near rear bumper and built in fogs...looks the dogs danglies compared to the "old" TS.

one thing they still didn't do was give it a 6-speed box... but I belive...and correct me if i'm wrong the 5th gear ratio has been raised slightly ...hence it cruises better at 80 as some afore people mentioned..other than that engine/transmission is pretty much the same.

£10,000 grand you say...snap it up!!! mine was £10,500 and as you say around £2000 under Toyota show-room price.

You'll love it...not just the performance....after all it's not really that powerfull...or that fast....it relies on it's lightness (so never fill her up...too much weight...just have half a tank!)

but the handling...wow...it sure sticks to the road. Enjoy!!!

Jad,

Your from Burnly I see...I'm not too far away in Harrogate/York.not many Yaris TS's up here! it stands out and people are always admiring it!

The thunder Grey is a nice colour, it does stand out, and I've not seen any other model with the same colour...looks great.

when I said it's not that fast before...obviously it is for it's engine spec, but it's handling is what makes it fun...and if you fancy some fun...leave the BMWs' slip sliding over the roads on those country roads, while the sure footed Yaris eats up the road. you tend to always get understeer (front losing traction before rears) so it's easy to drive on the limit.

So your the proud owner of a new car...here's a few rules!!!

1> never ever park next to a rust bucket! ( they don't care about your doors)

2> never park next to a four wheel drive ( again don't care about your doors)

3> never park next to a car with child seats .(say no more!!!)

4> always try to find an end spot..and park as close to the end as you can!

5> park further away from the door....ie shopping centres...less traffic moving about/trying to park)

6> keep away from car washes!! ( puts nasty swirls in your paint)

anyone else have any "golden Rules?"

Vipes.

Never let your baby out of your sights...... make sure you tuck it up at night and it will need to be driven hard once in a while.....it will like you for it!

My 2001 Yreg YTS has been driven hard for 30K miles. Nothing mechanical has gone wrong, just some rattles and a loose spoiler (replaced under warrenty).

The new updates will make life much easier - having no boot light is a pain when you live out in the sticks.

A sixth gear would be nice as cruising at motorway speeds means you sit near to to 4000 revs and it can wear you down on a long trip. I did a 4.5hour Harwich-Blackpool trip a while back and I was shattered when I got there.

Having said that, I've driven cars by Volvo, Ford, Vauxall, Rover, Honda, Fiat, Citroen, Peugeot, etc and all have been pretty normal - the Yaris is the car that fits me best.... The Celica was wicked too but the seating is a bit low for long company trips.

Hey,

Listen to me when i say this, the :censor: INSURANCE :censor: definatly suks if you are under 21.

I got my 2002 model yaris T-Sport for £9500  , from a place called AUTOTRADER (i think it has a web page), its located in a place called SLOUGH, :o now some of may have heard of it, as beeing a dump hole. Yet the german industry is taking over. The germans planted this large scale car dealer (tens of thousands of cars) place on the edge of slough. And i must say it has most gorgous cars. I got yaris in FIRE RED it's a beutyi haven't really seen only like yet on the road. Only 5 of them in stock back then, but they didnt sell for ages  , i couldnt figuer out what was wrong .Yet i gave in, in the end. and it turned out to be the greatest thing!!! :D

I cant really coment that much on the new model but my mate has one and did drive it, yet the only real noticable difference  , i could feel was the steering, however nothing special.

I simply cant stand here and wait for the 6th Gear its definatly a must have!!! Hurry up Toyota!!! :crybaby:

As far as the rules go, never park in a slough car park, those gorgeous male escort drivers WILL, WILL, WILL scratch your you car any way possible :ffs: !!!

I hope this helped in some way.

Can't get the YTS onto 2 wheels. All 4 stick very firmly to the road round corners!

I've got a 52 plate YTS and wish it had some of the features of the new one, in particular the little light in the boot!

Hi , Im new to tthe site and waiting for my 2003 yaris to arrive. Im English bu live in Costa del Sol . I can tell you , ive seen only 2 and heard of another 3 t sport owners down here so This will be a very rare thing . chose it as it is far cheaper to insure than other hatch backs in the same class. Eg Saxo vtr or corsa gsi . 2o6 gti .. forget it.

Down here the insurance rules are very tight ( more than UK ) mostly because here it is very high risk area .Accidents and bad drivers etc . ( those of you who have ever spent time down here will know what I mean)

Question .... I noticed from many of the gallery photos that the rear spioler is a different shape to the one I have. In the UK is it standard or classed as an accesory ? The Euro spec does not have the rear spioler so I have ordered it as an accessory but the shape doesnt follow the line of the tailgate as ive seen in the photos.

One good thing about the 2003 model is that the rear fog lights are a different shape and you have 2 instead of the one reverse and one fog

the spoiler is standard fit on the UK YTS but it is badged TTE - it's not the bog standard Toyota option in the catalogue which think you have ordered.

You can tell if it's the standard spoiler as it has two bobbles on the top.

Cancel that if you can and get the dealer to check for TTE parts in his catalogue.
