World Cup 2006

Right peeps, i'm on another one of my money making schemes! :P

The past few major football tournaments (e.g. World cup 2002, Euro 2004) I have noticed a lack of people selling stuff in Paphos relating to the football (such as flags, hats etc etc) and seeing as there are so many english tourists here in the summer i have to prepare! so in preparation for next years world cup i'm going to get my own business/ stall along the seafront set up 10 days or so before the kick off.

All i really want from any of you footie fans is what type of stuff you would buy in the run up for the World Cup this year (have to buy the stock in now whilst the prices are cheap you see) ;)

Any feedback would be great!!

Mate, flags and massive hats are all you need!

There gonna be brits abroad getting tanked up, shirts off etc.

Flags and massive hats, that's what i'd be looking for...

Well i've already sorted myself out with some car window flags, just need to source myself some large flags, and hopefully some hats as well.

Oh, and this is a little something i've been working on;

England2006-Front.jpg

I'm not sure whether i should drop the trophy or not, and still not finished making the back of the shirt yet, will post a pic up. I want some opinions on whether YOU would buy the shirts, or what could be done to improve them, because i think they're gonna sell well if i get some printed

Nice mate, yeah i'd lose the trophy, looks a bit random!

How about some Dads army style British flag arrows all pointing at Germany or a British flag in the shape of Germany?!!

I'd buy one! Depending on how they look might get you to send me one!

(PLEASE READ THE WRITING IN RED AS ENGLISH SO AS NOT TO OFFEND- A MERE OVERSIGHT APPEARS TO HAVE GOT ME IN BIIIIG TROUBLE!!! :P )

I like the design of the first t-shirt the most out of the two of them, I am only a small footie fan about England so I'd also only look for flags and hats, funny hats are good too.

You need to jump on a Chav-tastic bandwagon like those "bigot flags" that everyone had at the last Euro cup.

(C'mon the Aussies!!)

the more racist, antagonistic and arrogant the slogan / design - the more you will sell !

How 'bout - 'England Germany 2006 - this time it's war' or 'The Dunkirk spirit lives on . .' etc. you get the idea

Sorry m8.. i just had to ask.. What on earth has the BRITISH FLAG got to do with it?? It's ENGLAND that are going to the world cup.. not BRITAIN.

I'm not pointing this out to you due to sour grapes because Scotland aren't going (we're pi*h and we know we are ) but because it is a case of national identity.. I for one wouldn't want to loose mine .. i'm Scottish, and proud of it..., so you refering to the ENGLAND team as British is a case of loosing your ENGLISH identity. Another reason i don't like this sort of thing is.. when ENGLAND fans behave themselves, they are ENGLISH.. but when they cause trouble, they all of a sudden get a change of identity and become BRITISH!! :ffs: .. the whole of the British Isles then get tarred with the same brush, and its just not on.. i'm sure the Welsh and the Northern Irish would agree with me... don't loose your national identity.. and don't call the English Team British... In football terms a British team doesn't excist (and i hope it never will)

Don't take this post the wrong way.. i'm not trying to offend you, but it's the same in the Press.. you English people should know that you are English.. and that ONLY as a combined Nation of The Untited Kingdom do we become British.

A very Patriotic Scotsman (who doesn't hate the English.. well.. not all the time :P )

Ross.. the shirts look good m8.. at least you used the Cross of St. George rather than the Union Flag.

See my above post.. Britain were at war.. NOT ENGLAND!! :ffs:

Keep the war out of it Ross.. keep it football.. if some English people want racist comments and such.. let the English be accosiated with it,, not Great Britain.

You should remember that this is an international forum.. and overseas readers can read this.. wouldn't want TOC getting a bad name now.. would we.

couldn't agree more - just saying what I thought would sell, not what I personally like or would want to buy.

I completely agree with you davy about the national identity.

I've decided i'm going to get an initial 10 of each shirts printed; If anyone wants one, please jot ur name down and a size. I don't know about prices yet, but probably won't exceed 7.50 CYP delivered (about 10 GBP)

Whats the wrong way round each way?

In silvasurfa's post he said that British flags should be used.. i disagree.. England flags should be used.. it's not Britain thats going.. is it.

It was also Britain (as well as the rest of Europe) that fought in both of he Great Wars.. not England. Scots, Northern Irish and Welsh soldiers (as well as a lot of our Allies) lost their lives.. as well as English.. or did you forget? so... '.....- 'The Dunkirk spirit lives on . .' etc.. has nothing to do with it.. The soldiers at Dunkirk etc.. were not just from England.. were they.

KEEP IT ENGLISH... not British.

I think he said British flags should be used in the arrows as that is what is depicted in the opening credits of 'Dads Army'

He did say "Dads Army STYLE flags.. which is fair enough .. but he also said.. or a British flag in the shape of Germany?!!... which isn't right.

Guys guys this is getting out of hand. Davy i see where you're coming from and agree with it, however i'm sure that silvasurfa didn't mean it that way. Lets all calm down and 'Woosah' something...Please!

The Dunkirk spirit has got nothing to do with it - I KNOW THAT !

I know the soldiers were just not English. I'm just saying that as BRITISH (and therefore by definition some English) soldiers fought German soldiers similarities will be drawn between that deadly serious conflict and this perceived 'conflict' between football teams.

When England last played Germany one of the terrace chants was ''2 world wars and 1 world cup'' - technically wrong of course but none the less inevitable I fear.
