Rear Windscreen And Radio

Due to the cold weather, I've been using the rear windscreen demister a lot lately. However, when I turn this on, the radio gets a lot of interference on the FM channels. I know the radio antenna is built into the back windscreen but surely this interference should not occur on every station.

Oh yes it does unfortunately. The man from Toyota, he say no to repairing it under warranty as it is classed as a 'feature' of the car., and cannot be rectified. :censor:

WOT A CROCK! :ffs:

Gave Toyota in Nuneaton a call and they are going to look at this for me. They said they can do it under the warranty and will take a whole day.

I'll keep you informed of the outcome

So rear heating elements are used as radio aerial.......they (Toyota) must have thought that at some point both radio and rear window would be on....wouldn't they?! There must be some filter on the aerial lead.....you would hope!

Actually the aerial is the top 3rd of the array, if you put rear demist on you'll notice only the bottom 2/3rds demists, the top bit is exclusively aerial. The 2 functions shouldn't interact, certainly the circuitry is separate. Not usual I can vouch, mine works fine.

Same here, no problem on either my saloon or the hatch. Any interference must be a fault and it ought to be covered under warranty.

Well my problem has now been fixed.

I've had a completely new back window put in and theres not a single trace of the problem. And even better, it was covered under the warranty.

Top marks to Listers Nuneaton for there excellent service.

No probs with the demister but I get "fizzly" interference *when* the rear wiper gets used. Probably saving money by not filtering it as it's not used a great deal.

Cheers,

Jim
