Ok, so after i turn the engine off there is a buzzing sound which sounds like a electric motor running(similar to the noise when you change the headlight height from inside the car, but the lights dont move at all), the noise itself sounds like its coming from the headlights...any idea what this could be?

It has been doing it for over a week now.

Cheers,

Joe.

Used to have a similar noise on my Fiesta Zetec-S. It was the alternator in the end......not sure whether it could be something similar with yours?

I sometimes get a noise like that to, traced mine to summat bolted on the bulkhead on the passenger side its a black cylnder type of thing. Would take a pic but cars in garage. Also had 2 rovers and it turned out to be the stepper motor or something like that.

Joe - Sounds like the EVAP Charcoal Canister (part of the Emission Control System) doing its job.

Any evaporated fuel in the tank get passed through the Charcoal Canister

and is passed into the Inlet Manifold after the Throttle Butterfly to be burnt.

It's mounted on the right hand side of the Bulkhead and you quite often get a buzzing type noise from the check valve

on the bottom of the Canister.

You can make sure the Check Valve is fitted the right way - black side of the valve faces the Canister - yellow side away from it.

I'm not sure though as it made the noise the other day when the ABS came on going over a manhole cover whilst braking in the wet, and i have never noticed this noise before  im boggled.

Also, it usually only does it when the lights are turned on :censor:

Thanks for the help...i'm just positve however that this noise has never surfaced before.

It also does it when you turn the engine off and leave the lights on :s
