OK...

I enjoy my time browsing the forums as much as the next person.... but it really does start to become irritating when people come on here asking for honest advice on where to get something from or done... and they are laughed at or told they are 'Max Muppets' or 'Chavs' and the like...

Yes, certain modifications are considered by 'the masses' to be OTT or Chavish or Max... but... arent we all different? Dont we all like and dislike different things?

Neon Underkits (or whatever else they may be called) ... If someone comes on here asking about them... they have been met with a lot of sarcastic comments... granted not everyone but enough to make me think.. 'hang on a min'... Yet you see some amazing efforts of show cars also on here which actually look pretty damn good with the kits.... so who is to say that they are going to botch it... made a pigs ear of it and it end up looking crap or chav?

Suicide Doors or Lambo Doors.... again... personal taste?? how many chavs do you see around driving their puntos/corsas/whatever with Lambo or Suicide doors?? Well I havent... and I see a lot of chavs around here..... some people may say its not so 'Chav' but 'Max' but they are still meaning it in a detrimental way...

So I ask why? why do people insist on making sarcastic comments... on belittling someone elses idea of modification... what is good over here may not be so in other countries... and we have lots of foriegn members here too. Perhaps the UK has 'been there and done that' and others are behind in styling... perhaps we arent as adventurous as others... I just dont know... but I do know that why the hell should I worry so much about what -I- want to do to -My- car based on what my 'friends' on here will think??

It may be harsh.... but it wont hurt to lay off a bit will it peeps?

Some people Mod

Some people Dont

its a fact...

Some people like show cars

Some people like performance cars...

FFS give them a break, you can tell them you dont think its a good idea without being quite so harsh sometimes!!!..... cant you??

sorry... rant over now

I completely agree JJ, 100%

I think people on here need to be taken down a peg or two - how would they feel if they came onto a forum and were ridiculed for their choice of mod. Its like a pack of wolves - all in for the kill.

I mean come on guys, we all have ideas - how would you feel to be belittled for one of yours?

Well said JJ! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've always thought along the lines of "It's not my car so im not bothered what you do to yours"

but in some cases people ask for some of the comments they get - if you ask about parts that any real car person would have some ground knowledge in and play dumb

(recent example - that guy asking about a 'dump valve' for his non turbo car)

im not a fan of of this kind of modding (but with an rs grill im a real one to talk) making your car look or sound like something its not - like synthesised dumpvalves and NAWZ stickers on a stock 1.2 corsa, and i really have no interest in a car with 3 tonnes of filler and shiney wheels that maen your have to apply for a HGV licence in order to drive it

but if thats what makes them happy thats their buisiness

i get loads of stick from my school friends (a, cos i ain't passed my test yet) but b, cos my car aint a frigging 1.2 corsa, and its white and it has 15's which aren't even chromed, but when one of my friends has a 1.8 manually injected fiesta with lexus lights and missing hubcaps which he drives like a ferrari yet sounds like leyland daf (also with a broken heater matrix and already having one engine rebulid after a broken timing belt) i feel happy in the knowledge that my lowly 1.0 litre has more hp :D

sorry for the ramble

i'll make my point - its not fair of any of us who each have our own tastes (usually ending up as a battle between p1s and 2s) to lay judgement on the choices, however stupid, of these people

get up on the wrong side of the bed today lad?

personally a forum shouldnt be goody goody, boring or insulting or whatever, its a mixed bag and personally thats the purpose of forum for people to collectively meet and share the thought and ideas. If everyone agreed with everyone, and was nicey nicey it would be so boring.

i enjoy toc regardless. end of.

My personal opinion on mods is.

Do what you want to do, but Why bother to buy a car which you probably bought largely for the looks then proceed to change it?

Performance mods are fine.... If they work.

As for the two specific mods that JJ mentioned. Undercar neons... Illegal to use on the public highway. So why bother?

And Suicide/Lambo doors. Have you ever noticed how a car is designed to act in a certain way in the event of an accident. It`s designed to act in a certain manner to protect the occupant(s) Anti burst locks, Anti intrusion bars, Airbags etc. If you start messing with the structure, including the doors. The results could well be catastrophic. It`s just not worth it. Thats my 2ps worth as well. :D
