Dull and boring compared to which other cars? .. to cars of same class and type as the Avensis, not in my opinion.

I'm very satisfied with my Avensis Wagon D4D, march 2005 model.

- Comfort is superb, other users in here complain about noiselevels from wheels but I personally haven't had these problems

- handling fine for its size (mine is lowered though)

- engine is ok. I would consider the 177hp 2.2 litre instead, if I was buying now. Have tried the 150hp and aren't impressed with that.

- Looks are great, but that isn't objective :-)

Now, I have also put over £6000 in it extra for e.g. alloys, lowering, tinting, cruisecontrol, preheater and such.

Guess I'm more your dad's generation but I think he'd like it. Handling is good, acceleration superb when you hit the power band, comfortable, little bit noisy but good stereo, easy to customise. Go for it.

Nice car, good choice, get a 2.2 D4D cos the 2.0 is a bit sluggish, (Unless you play with it!) Plenty of toys, and reliable as the sunrise, whats to not like?

Would also add - Nice big boot, fairly unobstructed too. Something most dad's seem to value! ;)

Mine's a 2.0L and it was a close thing between that and the 2.2L. I liked the "pull" on the 2.2 but I was working with a budget and the 2.2 blew it! :(

I wouldn't say the Avensis is dull, just practical. Hell, my ideal car would be a Cat-7 but apart from spending all the time picking flies from my teeth, I've got a little monster to cart around. Please spare a thought for all those dad's who drive around in "dull" family saloons, all of which, every last one of 'em, are driving around, sticking to the limit, being told how to drive by his in-laws while ignoring screaming kids... Whilst all the time dreaming about flying around the Nürburgring in a sporty, fuel guzzling monster. Or is that just me?

Cheers,

Jim

Nope me too, although my kids are old enough to have their own wheels, I still have a wife who can detect 71mph from a deep sleep! :censor: Mind you, I do most of my mileage through work, and alone *evil snigger*
