Want To Buy Tsport

ok, My patience has been stretched and January is almost here.

Been keeping an eye on autotrader and seen some nice ones come and go.

Question is. I am almost certainly going to have to fly to the mainland and buy my car and then drive it home to Northern Ireland. Can anyone recommend dealers that they like that would be likely to have Tsports. I'm worried about private sales because I would be flying over to see the car and then buying same day.

Any advice would be cool.

Michael.

Hi Michael,

I've also been looking for a t-sport, been looking for a few months now, but can't find any that 'tick my boxes'

Have you thought about looking in Ireland? check out www.toyota.ie & www.autotrader.ie a few garages import Toyota's so there's a chance you'll find one built in Japan....

Just be patient and keep lookin, one will show up eventually :D .

Cheers,

G

cool. Glad theres someone in the same boat as me. Makes its a bit difficult being over here and I'm concerned about not being able to see a car before I buy it. I never thought of the south or imports. I'd far rather get a japanese built one though so I'll have a look about. Do you know anything about taxes from the south or any issues with imports. My dad owns a bodyshop so for the next few years I'm on a traders policy so insurance isn't an issue. I'll be 25 in March so it should drop a bit.

Thanks. You probably should have kept quiet. I might plague you for your opinions. :)

Just import duty and UK registration fee's - not big money.

There's a few places in Dublin that import Lexus direct from Japan, they'll also import a Jap built T-Sport, think you'll have to wait about 8 weeks for delivery tho.

You could always save yer money and wait until the new Corolla is launched next year.

do you know the names of them . I have cousins in dublin and it's not a long drive down.

Thanks.

Anyone know what the current SVA requirements are all are for people importing privately?

I'm with yokel on this. Don't do it.

I like Toyota as a manufacturer and the dealerships are especially good. But the T-Sport feels like a bit of an after thought where as Celica's,Golf GTi's, Type-R's and Astra's feels like a car built to be sporty. The Skoda Fabia vrs is also worth a drive. The T-Sport does handle incredibly well and the Lift is awesome. But be aware that this is not a bullet proof car and that you'll have to put up with rattles, potential oil problems (dependent on manufacturer year), faults that effect the lights right down to the brilliant VSC/TRC system. The car does run really well and does feel fun, but it sits too high the inside is plasticky and suspension is too soft.

I've had one for about 8 months and wouldn't buy another current model Tsport. I would definately get another toyota, probably the new corrola if they put the 2.2 D-4d 180 engine in it.

You're not the first person to mention the electrical faults, their D-4D engines are really under rated.

I'd be carefull also, I got my cts with modding in mind, changed suspension etc, so wasnt bothered about the stock setup, but if i wanted a good all round car out of the box, i'd have gone for something else, as there is to many little annoying flaws.

If you can get one from japan, really try to get a nice corolla sports-M version in white, comes with lsd, 200bhp and is lighter with proper sports seats etc.... well nice.
