Tech Problem With My Gen6 Help!

the other day i plugged my sat nav into the cig lighter and there was a spark and my digi clock, interior light, cd headunit all got knocked out..

i located which fuse it was and replaced it, everything was working fine, but that night went to the car, started it, and the CD player was working, the clock wasnt on and neither was the interior light...

all the fuses as far as i can see are ok.. now, if i take the headunit from the cd player out the digiclock comes on but faintly, if i plug the cd back in it goes out, or if i turn the interior light on it goes out...

the fuse that blown was a 15 and i replaced it with a 15...

if anyone can help me id be gratefull

Sounds like there's a short somewhere in the system. If there was a spark it sounds like something wasn't earthed properly........not sure.

Sorry I can't be of any more help....some of the other guys should be a bit handier with electrics.

Just a guess....... I`m assuming it`s an aftermarket HU?? You really need to remove the HU and cage and check the wiring. It sounds as if something may have shorted on the metal part of the cig lighter. Which is normally earthed. My suspicion would be that the insulation on the HU wiring may not be all it could be. While your at it, it might be a good idea to check ALL the wiring behind the console. It usually looks like a birds nest.
