Anyone got any ideas? The front washer jet works. I've tried unblocking the nozzle, had a look underthe bonnet, can't see any blocked/kinked/loose pipes.

Cheers

You can take the Washer jet nozzle out using a needle or similar and then try it.

Failing that,it could be the pick up strainer/screen on the rear washer pump blocked ( take the pump off and wash it under a hot tap)

Push fit in the washer bottle at the front.

This time last week I'd have said it was definitely the same pump for front and rear washer, but then someone on here told me that the Avensis has separate pumps for front and rear washers. Either way will be in the bottom of the washer bottle (pushed in from the outside). You just pull them out, but do it when the fluid level is low, or else have something to catch the fluid in. On some cars access is easy, on others you need often find them buried inside the wheel arch liner.

If it is a single pump then it spins one way for the front screen, and the other for the rear. If rear failed and front weak, then it's probably only a matter of time before the front gives up altogether.

Toyota pumps tend to be dealer only items; you can get almost exactly the same pump from Halfords, but the electrical connections are different on most Toyotas. Not a cheap item - £50 ish, so if you need one PM your chassis number to Kingo for a quote.

HTH.

It's a single pump with two pipes coming from it - obe to the front washers and one to the back one. There are different outlets from the pump so the rear one could be blocked. It's easy t remove the tank and the pump is a push fit in the front of the tank. Should be simple to check if one of them isn't flowing any liquid.
