If the rear engine mount's rubber bush is perished, it will produce knocking sounds especially on cornering.

Could it be driveshafts knocking anyone?

I think this question has been asked before.. i think people said this happens to all starlets, my SR has it and my sister's glanza v has it too.. <_< .at least thats what i think people said before.. :(

Maybe someone else has another reason.

it's always hard to diagnose a knock over the internet, but if it's just when hard cornering ( full lock ) then it could well be a CV joint.

I'm with Boro Sera on this. Mind you, that should be picked up at MOT time. The wife's Starlet hasn't developed any knocking...Yet.

Engine mounts are pretty common (rear one under the car is favourite) cv's also give some trouble so check those first.

it really more of a creaking noise coming from under the drivers footwell sort of area. Does this ring any bells to anyone?

rear engine mount is in that sort of area. This is a fairly common problem ( and fairly straightforward to change.

i currently have this problem with me car, wen i reverse outa my drive on full lock it makes a knocking noise from under the drivers footwell feels like my wheels gna fall off but my mate told me it was ok so i didnt think much of it.

im pretty sure its not normal as it didnt do that wen i first got my car.. sum1 from a garage told me its the rubber bit in the cv joint.. needs a new 1 and re-greasing.. pls correct me if im wrong?

tha rubber gaiter on the end of the drive shafts is filled with grease, to lubricate the CV joint. These rubbers split and subsequently the joint loses grease over time. A new rubber boot and regrease might cure this, although if it's been running 'dry' for a while you could need a new CV joint too
