I always find driving it like you stole it works quite well. However if you want to do the job properly, then a few basic mods will help. De-cat, decent exhaust, decent filter, Boost controller manual or electronic, are all fairly easy to do and will benefit. Word of caution. The 185 has a standard composite head gasket so you don`t really want to wind the boost past .9 bar. If you`ve got a steel head gasket fitted you can take it to 1.1 bar quite safely without supporting mods. Needless to say the engine should be in good mechanical condition before you start. The biggest mod to mine was losing around 100KG of weight. Off the car i hasten to add.

Get over to gt4oc and see what they get up to.

thanks for reply, i have an induction kit and also a manual boost conroller(not yet fitted(a bit scared))but i have had the head gasket job done in the last 8weeks.i think i should find out which matereial it is made from...

also when in boost it fails to go past 60% on the little orange needle(im reffering to the one above the fuel and eng temp). i spoke to a lad and his does reach the top. is there maybe somethingrestricting this, what could i maybe try? thank you so much

Ignore the standard boost gauge. It`s slow to respond and not the most accurate thing on the planet. Get a good quality aftermarket jobbie. Easy to fit harder to find a place for it to go though. Boost is limited in 1st and 2nd gear by a little gizmo operated by a vacuum pipe from the actuater. (And for the life of me i cant remember the acronym for it  ) Lots of owners (Including me) have disabled this to allow full boost in all gears. Probably means the transmision will not last quite so long as Mr T intended. But what the hell.
