Opinions On The Yaris T Sport

rite people,i have a 1.3 16v 98 starlet at da min,and afrt xmas i mite go for a t sport yaris,a white one,give it a real jdm look.wat id like 2 know is,wat are the tuning possibilites of these cars?and can a vvti controler be fitted to one,or wud it be a waste of time?wen does the vvti kick in on them?wat year did they start production?

Do a search on turbos, induction kits, superchargers, exhausts etc, talk to envy also have a look in peoples garages

You can't get a T-Sport in white unless you get a respray, get an import or put a T-Sport engine in a non T-Sport!

The tuning possibilities engine wise aren't great at the moment but there is alot of works in progress! The styling options are plentiful though!

The VVT-i runs all through the rev range as far as I know and they started production in 1999!

Im pretty sure the Phase one started production in 01 and then the P2 around 03. They are both very similar (there is a post stickied at the top that shows the differences) but many people swear by a phase due to personal likes! They have not been very succesfully tuned tbh but thats even more of the fun! a TTE supercharger has been fitted by an admin "kimi" in germany which means you keep the warranty :D Yaris WRC is in the process of a custom Turbo job atm. That is all for a Tsport! The VVT-i controller is another thing that i dont think anyone has actually tried yet as they havent modded enough for it to be much use! Exhausts and Induction kits and the like exist (some quality jap parts as well as the a few of the more affordable parts!) One of the Guys from Envy also has a yaris Tsport so lots of parts are available for him custom made for the yaris!

Also i would wait till after january as the new Yaris is being released then so will make a price drop for the older ones :D (Btw if you were interested in the new one, 1. its more corrolla size but Aygo looks and 2. no Tsport is available atm!)

It comes in blue, red, black and grey!

VVT-i is not like VTEC, it runs throughout the whole rev range!

Yaris Tsports aint like the 'rolla and celica... which have VVTLi...

Yaris TS doesnt have a kick (like the VVTLi wen it hits 6k it has a sudden burst of power) the VVTi engine is smooth and has no large power bursts and/or flat spots.

My GF bought one, its not rapid..but its a top car. well worth it!!

Out of interest, what does that make it in competition with? Is it quicker? i know the yaris has loads more going for it but i just wondered what the people at the top class it as?

Ill answer this is one swope.

tuning wise the yaris is okay, it responds okay to mods but not as wellas most marinstream warm hatch cars, like crappy saxos etc.

its a bit limited in mods, only ones so far are, decat system, apexi, manfiold and crank pulley. these are all suplied mainly by envy performance. you can get a dastek ecu remap - but judgin by peoples figures it aint really worth it.

my mate has a bog standard glanza (1.3 turbo newer shape starlet gt), before mods no chance at. after well i could keep upto a point.

Its such a nice and unrated car to drive, cant fault it really, there also aint as many as say saxos etc around, but a saxo compaed to a t sport is chalk and cheese. :P

Earpl, whats to say that car you posted isn't resprayed, an import or the owner has put a T-Sport engine in a non T-Sport and kitted it up as one? It might even be a 1 litre with a T-Sport kit!

There are many options for customising the Yaris but I would suggest that you start off with some English lessons. Just the basics would give you the means to write a coherent post.
