Help.

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

1. My 1989 Carina GL has recently developed a couple of problems. I have recently discovered I am losing 'sprayed' oil onto the offside wing. It seems to be coming from somewhere near the fan belt area to the offside of the engine. Unable to physically see where it is coming from.

2. More worringly over last week I have had 2 occasions when travelling at 60ish I suffer from sudden drop in power. It happened repeatedly this morning. I was 30 miles into my journey when the power started to go. Managed to get off road and car idled fine. Started journey again and it was ok for 3-4 miles then same again. Managed to nurse the car to work but am not very hopeful about the return journey tonight.

Well Oil cooler pipes leak at the front of the engine, which is very common!

Open the bonnet and look down at the exhaust manifold, under the manifold is the oil filter, and you will see 2 rubber pipes coming from the engine block & sump which are your cooler pipes! If they look very wet then thats your problem!

If not they can also suffer from rocker cover gasket/sump gasket and cam seals leaking! Dont for get the car is getting on now and the gaskets and seals are hard and brittle!

And as for the running problem i couldnt say with out seeing it myself!

Is the car fuel injected or carb?
