Door Locks Frozen In Winter Due To Cold

Toyota Carena 1.6 cc. The car was locked and left in the parking area. When I tried to open the car after about 8hrs I was not able to open the car. The key was not rotating. May be due to freezing of locking system. I tried using antifreeze spray through the key holes, but it did not work.

Can anybody come out with a solution to prevent such occurrence in future.

Hi, my Dad used to swear by these. It's basically a piece of metal that heats up using batteries and you insert it into your lock and it melts any ice. Simple!

These are on eBay but I'd imagine Halfords or Motor World would sell something similar.

Ensure the door locks are well lubricated with WD 40. Put the key in the lock and then squirt a good quantity into the mechanism. This should disperse any water and hopefully prevent freezing. It works on our cars.
