Celica 1997 2000cc St202

Hi

I have just joined this forum.

I need help, i have managed to lose my key for my celica, i have spoken to the main agents who are advising that i need to change ecu etc etc, therefore i think a remortgage is required.

Can anyone help or any suggestions??

find a local locksmith who works with cars etc and ask their advice.

I didn't think the celica keys were that inteligent (I don't think they have a transponder like a ford - but not sure)

If they don't have a transponder then you should be able to get a replacement lockset from a scrappy and just change them over, obviously you will still need to gain access to the vehicle first.

Ask about a bit - Try asking other Toyota Dealers to see if they give the same advice.

Failing that if you do need a matching ECU, get a s/h one with matching lockset from a scrappies?

if its a uk car it does have a transponder in it, you may have to change the locks and the ecu, have u checked if the main dealer can make you one up from the chasis code - suspect not as I think they need a master key to copy from.
