Uk Vs Japanese Cd Player

Hello, a Yaris newby here.

I've just picked up a second hand CD player for the lady's Yaris.

It's a combined CD & cassette in one unit, the likes of which I've never seen before. I can only assume it is from a Japanese import or something like that.

Has anyone got any idea whether it'll be compatible with her UK model as a replacement for the existing cassette deck?

No, I haven't tried fitting it yet!

should be, just need a band expander to pick up the radio stations properly...Oh, ive also got one of those double din players...came as standard on mine though :P

And out of intrest is it the one that was on eBay? And if so, how much did you get it for cos I want to flog my one in the winter

So I assume I just swap one for the other? Leads etc just plug in?

It would appear that the unit has a volume control on it - which is a bit odd as there is already a volume knob built in to the top of the dash. Could this be a problem?

Yes it was the one on eBay - got it for £69 which I thought was a pretty good deal. The reserve was £65. Picked it up today as it was local.

Not sure the colour quite matches her dash though?!

Nah it won't be a problem. I don't think the volume on the dash will work after, so you'll have to use the one on the player itself

And yeh it should be a straight swap over..there's some useful guides at top of main Yaris pahe that will help you take the dash apart to get the old one out and new one in.

What colour is the unit?? Blue, Light grey, or Dark Grey?

The dash is dark grey and the CD unit is blue - could be an interesting mix?! Depends whether she likes the combo or not I suppose.

The fitting instructions look pretty detailed so I'll give that a go.

Ah yes... I had a blue one as well. All I can suggest to you if you don't like it is to colour code it to the exterior of your car? Or possibly to the colour of the current dash. However, I didn't need to do this as my dash was also the blue-ish colour.

Jaxx they will need expanding, mine only goes up to about 90.0 FM stereo
