6.5inches Not So Average?

I'm talking about Speakers not your manhood.

I bought a nice set of 6.5inch kickers to put in my front doors of my 1995 GT but when I got round to changing them I DOESN’T BL**DY FIT!!!! Grrrrr!!!!

The ones in the door is 6.5inches but it has a fat steel rim around it and the diamer between the holes are 8 inches! That means my 6.5 inches will just drop through. I figured I should put 8inch subs in there instead now but does anyone else have this problem? If so how did you over come this?

tho its not exactly the same thing that im experienceing, perhaps i can suggest a suitable method of fixing ur problem.... if you have the room, why not make a spacer ring that will fix to the door and then fix the Speakers into the spacer. im using mdf and mapped the shape of the old Speakers onto the mdf.... then i mapped the new Speakers onto the same mdf..... then im gonna cut out the spacer using a jigsaw and drill appropriate holes for the spacer. im sinking the holes for attaching to the door so they dont interfere with the speaker im mounting and then finally attaching the spacer to door ...then the new speaker into the spacer. i hope thats clear enough to give you an idea of what im doing and hope it gives you enough of an idea to maybe solve ur prob.... half inch thick mdf is working for me but it isnt the same kind of car(mr2).
