acc Mr T "Mr2's have no common faults"

Expensive little toys when things start to go wrong, and they will no doubt!!

Great car though, apart from being a complete !Removed! to work on!!

Just write the cheque out, what are you waiting for?

just take it easy in the wet !!

seen loads come to grief

apart from that get 1 they are great cars !!

no problems with them but go for hard top if you can find one... makes it so much nicer to drive in the winter plus will come with aircon as this is standard with all UK hard top cars.

Service history is vital and check alloys for corrosion... common problem

Go for the revised version if you can, less likely to have the back end flail out. Has bigger rear alloys and different suspension setup.

Have driven both and they're both great cars though!

In general MR2's are renowned for being very reliable and well built mechanically and body-wise. For it's age mine has been very good. They are normally well looked after, especially the imports from Japan. It's a completely different world over there, no crime and everyone takes care in the things they own as well as strict motor and insurance laws.

After reading some online reviews it seems that the mk3 is quite reliable although there do appear to be considerably more common problems than with the mk2.

The main common mk3 faults are:

Rattles in the cabin

Poor seals around the lights

Faulty aeriel motors

Hood is easily damaged and rattles

'Soft' paintwork - easily chipped

Corroded or marked alloys

Didn't realise this post was about the mkIII (We've got our own section you know? )

Yes the Roadster does have certain little quirks, the pre facelift models can be a bit more than little ;)
