Hey guys, as some of you may know, I'm at Oxford Brookes university, and as such, I have joined the university " race club ". The club is officially recognised by the MSA and as such, we get HUGE discounts on all sorts of track days, and we do all sorts of events too...and the huge discounts is where this thread comes into...

Basically, for the 13th of february...our club has secured a track day at.....the full GRAND PRIX CIRCUIT AT SILVERSTONE!! Yes you heard that right, the full race circuit...and as some of you will know, doing that usually costs thousands of pounds. Why im i telling you guys? Because we can have upto 150 - 200 people there! For details, the track day will cost from £100 - £130 and you can bring ANY sort of car be it a road car, gt race car, open wheeler etc, just as long as they meet msa / mot regulations and fall below 105db on the sound meter. You will also have the possibility to get training from the instructors on hand (basically, the race dudes in our club).

The format is as follows: there will be 3 sessions for road / race cars, and a session for open wheelers, these will run from 9am - 5pm, with a 1 hour lunch break in between, meaning that you will get a total of 7 20mins sessions, a total of 2hrs 20mins on track. And one thing that sets the clubs trackdays from all the " forum " track days is that our track days are FULLY insured! Well, thats all there is to say really, for all those that want to participate, please let me know a.s.a.p and I will add you on a first come first serve basis, and i dont know how many people i am supposed to find, but more of that will come later!

I am interested in a place. Can more than one driver run the same car? Is one place for one driver, or for each car? I would love to do Silverstone. I'm studying electronic engineering at stafford and not much cash, but this sounds brilliant Riko.

hey mate, thats not a problem. well i think the way that this is set out is that you will have to pay the £100 - £130, then whoever is gonna also drive your car has to pay £15 (which pretty much just covers the insurance), but you cannot take passengers around the circuit unless you have a race licence, but yeah, when i heard this i was just like " screw budgetting!! " hehe

hello y'all, bit of an update. and the update is about payment. unluckily contrary to what i thought, you cannot " book " a place there, so its a first pay first serve kinda basis. but anyway, the final price is £130 and for that you get 2hrs 20mins track time (not finalised yet as the single seaters class MAY give way to another saloon car class), and use of the two professional instructors on site. the payment must be sent to the student union at oxford brookes university before the 6th of february.

if you want the address for the payment, PLEASE PM ME as soon as you can.#

anyway, beforehand you need to make sure that:

a) you held a driving / race licence for more than a year

B) your car is street / msa compliant

c) your car doesnt exceed 105db

d) you do not bring ANY passengers unless its an instructor or you (driver) hold an msa licence

places are limited to 150 places now, so people who are coming, let me know a.s.a.p and you will get the address to which you should send your cheque's to, thanks!
